Botox Post-Care

Ensuring proper post-care is critical when it comes to Botox treatment. The medication is carefully injected into specific muscles, and it's essential that it stays within the intended area and doesn't migrate into surrounding muscles. Therefore, post-care measures are crucial to maintain the effectiveness and safety of the treatment. In this article, we'll explore the importance of post-care after Botox treatment, and what you can do to ensure the best results.

At each appointment, you will be reminded of the post Botox injection rules:

  • No rubbing, touching, massaging, or itching the injection site

  • Keep hands away from the face for 20 minutes after procedure

  • No lying flat for 3 hours after procedure (no lash appointments, massages, etc. right after)

  • No bending over repeatedly for 3 hours after procedure

  • No high impact aerobic exercise or strenuous activity for 24 hours after procedure

  • No hot tubs, whirlpools, or tanning for 3-4 days after procedure

  • No other aesthetic treatment to the treatment areas (laser, waxing, microblading, facials) for 2 weeks after procedure (microblading is 4 weeks)

Potential Side Effects:

  • Post procedure bruising is very rare

  • 1/10 clients may experience a headache post treatment

  • Very rarely some people may experience mild cold like symptoms (runny nose, runny eyes, low grade fever)

  • It is very common for one or both eyebrows to raise too high. This is known as spocking and may require a touch up. Occasionally there may be uneven eyebrows, but this can be rectified

  • The risk of brow and lid drops known as PTOSIS is due to the medication migrating to muscles it is unintended for – it is extremely important to follow your post procedure rules to limit this risk

Expectations:

Botox will take 3-5 days to kick in. In most cases it will take up to 2 full weeks to see the full effect.

Your treatment will last anywhere from 2-4 months and is unique to each person. Your results are also impacted by many variables (sickness, surgery, infection, exercise, diet).

Will I require a touch up?

Everyone is different – touch ups may be required to make sure you are even on both sides and to ensure that you have the lines softened.

We cannot guarantee that you will be perfectly symmetrical.

We cannot guarantee that the dose we suggest or use will achieve the full desired outcome.

**Please note that complimentary touch ups are 6 units or less and must be done no later than 3 weeks post injection. Anything beyond 3 weeks will be subject to the cost per units used.
